Tizi'N Trail: Lucja Leonard
Every Wednesday we will feature a runner/race experience, a race report. This week is Lucja Leonard. Lucja has been running ultras and multi-stage races since 2013. Think of any big race, Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon, Marathon de Sable… she’s probably toed the line. Now based in Chamonix it’s all mountains, all the time.
What was your last race?
In January I started HURT100 in Hawaii which is a 100 mile race which would have been the 2nd time I’d run that distance but due to the high level of difficulty I only made it to 60 miles and pulled out with dehydration issues and vomiting. But more recently I signed up for Tizi n Trail.
What made you sign up for this race?
I love Morocco and this was my 3rd time doing this race. They change location within Morocco every year which keeps me coming back too.
What did you eat the most of at the aid stations?
I didn’t really eat at the aid stations, all I had there was coke!
Day 2 when I moved into 3rd place female and was running strong, I just felt invincible.
Day 1 was really hot and I wasn’t eating or drinking properly so was really struggling to maintain any sort of pace.
What race is next?
My next race is in April, the Ultra X Sri Lanka race, 250km over 5 days.
