Penyagolosa Trails 60K: Guillermo Boscá

Penyagolosa Trails 60K: Guillermo Boscá

This week is all about Penyagolosa Trails. Penyagolosa is part of the Ultra Trail World Series and takes place in Castellon, Spain with two distances 60k and 108k. Today we hear from Guillermo Boscá who completed the 60k distance with 3300m of elevation gain and improved his time by over an hour!

What was your last race? My favorite race is the MiM (Penyagolosa Trail) 60kms and 3300+ for the great reception it has of the public in the magical towns where it passes.

How far was it? Was it a new distance? It was the second time I repeated this ultra distance, but this time I managed to improve my time from 11h38 'until 10h30' which was a great achievement for me.

How long have you been running consistently? I have been running constantly for more than 5 years, training 5-6 days a week and only resting last year 1 month because of an injury to my left foot.  To be able to do the MiM it is necessary to train up to 80-90kms per week.

What made you sign up for this race? Terrain, location, recommendation? I decided to do this race again because it is mythical.  It's a fairly easy terrain to run despite having 3300+ and so close to where I live.

What did you eat the most of at the aid stations? I was eating lots of dates, quince, banana and lots of orange.  To drink, water, isotonic and coca cola.

High moment? The time to get to Useras and meet with friends.  Also the arrival to goal is spectacular in Sant Joan de Penyagolosa

Low moment? From the 30km I had enough problems with the twins and my quadriceps, and it was very difficult.  It was also a very hot day

Do you listen to music? If yes, what's your song of the moment? On this occasion I did not use music because I was accompanied by a friend.  In other races I usually listen to a list of varied Spotify music

Would you do it again? If possible, yes.  It is necessary to be lucky in the draw because only 1500 people can compete.

What race is next? La Subida Internacional al Veleta - 50kms The toughest climb in the world

What shoes did you wear? La Sportiva zalás , New Balance KOM, Nike Pegasus 35

What race pack did you use? I use a backpack and a COMORESSPORT belt and I do not use poles

Favorite local running store/brand/community? KAMUABU sport (my own brand)

Dream running destination? Race or holiday. UTMB Mont-Blanc
