Dagestan Wild Trail 112K: Varvara Chemnitz (Варвара Кемниц)
Curious about running in Russia? I definitely am. Varvara Chemnitz shares with us the Dagestan Wild Trail race, +5800m in 112k, ouch!
What the name of the race? My last race was Dagestan Wild Trail
How far was it? Was it a new distance? It was 112 km with 5800 elevation. Yes.
How long have you been running consistently? 3 years
What made you sign up for this race? Terrain, location, recommendation? Location. It's difficult to travel in Dagestan, so when i found about the race i decided to go
What did you eat the most at the aid stations? I always eat only gels, because if i eat food i can have some stomach problems. So i took only water and cola at the aid stations
High moment? All race was full of high moments) One of best i think was the moment when i got to aid station on 30 km and i was told that i'm going second. It was really a surprise for me, because i was never closer than 10 in such races, and girls were really strong, and i was like what? really? it was cool and made me strong and i run with this all my race
Low moment? One of the lowest moments was the moment before my finish. I did't know how many kilometres are left, and i were running and walking uphill and thoughts it would never ends.
Do you listen to music? If yes, what's your song of the moment? Yes. i put some music during low moments. One of the songs is Eminem - Lose Yourself
Would you do it again? Yes, i would, but i want to be more prepared for such a distance. So next year i want to try smaller races - 50-60 km, it suits me better now
What race is next? My next race is UTMB, i'm running OCC, 57 km
What shoes did you wear? I changed my shoes, so first part was Saucony Peregrine, second part Hoka Speedgoat 2
What race vest/pack did you use? Osprey Duro 6
Thanks so much Varvara! I hope you come back and tell us how OCC went. You can find Varvara on instagram @varreni4ek .
